About us

Suncape Accommodations cc was founded in late 2002 by Karsten Eggers and Vanessa Malvicini. Based in Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula, we are dedicated to supporting and leveraging the marketing of local accommodation providers, ranging from hotels to self-catering cottages.

For us this isn't the first project of this nature. We previously ran "Welcome to Italy", offering a similar service for travellers to Italy, specifically Milan.

Suncape Accommodations hopes to become the central accommodation booking service on the Internet targeted at the hospitality industry in the Southern Africa.

This site was designed and developed by Helmar Rudolph (http://www.argo-navis.com), handcoded entirely in Editplus. It utilizes the PHP scripting language and a MySQL database backend. Graphics were produced in Canvas and PaintShop Pro. The embedded image of the Waterfront and Table Mountain in the SunCape header was also taken by Helmar (see his picture gallery).

Mission Statement

We strive to provide a high-quality accommodation look-up and booking service to both suppliers and visitors alike. We want to be an asset to the local tourism community, and complement rather than compete with other booking and marketing channels. Support of local business and previously disadvantaged communities is part of our business philosophy, and this extends beyond our Internet-based service offerings.
